â€¢ Good poker players demand an advantage. What separates a winning poker player from a fish is that a fish does not expect to win, while a poker player does. A fish is happy playing craps, roulette, or the slots; he just hopes to get lucky. A poker player does not hope to get lucky. He just hopes others don't get lucky.

â€¢ Good poker players understand that a different game requires a different discipline. A disciplined no-limit player can be a foolish limit player and vice versa. For example, a disciplined limit hold'em player has solid preflop skills. When there is not much action preflop, he or she only plays the better hands. When a lot of people are limping in, he or she will make a loose call with a suited connector or other speculative hand.

â€¢ A disciplined player knows when to play and when to quit. He recognizes when he is on tilt and is aware when a game is too juicy to just quit while ahead.

I am extremely disciplined when the dealer is Dom Diane. She whips the flop, turns and grabs the paddle and I am up the river. She has the nuts in hand. All I can do, is muck !!!

I like the part about how someone who is good at limit may not be good at no limit...that is interesting

agree with all you post bower but I know im not a disciplined player as I don't have patience and when im playing poker and have a certain amount of money to play with ill just gamble it noy caring if I win or lose, reason is if say ive $40 and im only playing for a short while then ill play hands that I know I shouldn't but as im only really playing for bit of fun I dont mind losing, where if I wanted to really win I wouldn't play those hands, its like slots forme, play them for fun but I expect to lose my deposit but if I win its an added bonus, guess im the type of player that serious players hate as im only playing a short while and ill play erratic as not too bothered if I win or lose, so sometimes ill play crazy hands and see if lucks on my side but other times ill fold and say ill play next hand, but I do know that ifyou play with bad cards andhit luck like Ive done a few timesit pisses people off lol, always mind once I played a few hands on Ladbrokes and decided since I had a few hundred in casino I would just mess about with $30 and lose it within a few minutes, went all in on crepe hand and won $120 on third hand, played erraticly and ended up $500 up in about 10 hands, went okay that was luck and bye table lol im keeping the $500, like I said im not disciplined lol

SINCE I am not too disciplined in No Limit.....
I could be great staying on LIMIT TABLES!!
