OUR (YEAR #3) TRADITIONAL HOLIDAY THREAD: OPEN DISCUSSION

IT IS NOT TO JUDGE, BUT FOR SUPPORT, AND TO LISTEN.

THIS TIME OF YEAR, IS ESPECIALLY HARD FOR MANY PEOPLE.
AND FEELINGS OF SADNESS CAN TURN INTO DESPAIR......

HOWEVER, TALKING HELPS AND SOMETIMES, WE FORGET THAT.

I AM ASKING............ "DO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT?"

FOR ME....
MY FAMILY IS WHO I CHOOSE TO LOVE, AND YOU ARE MY FAMILY.

You are so awesome, Patti. I lost my sister 20 years ago to leukemia and holidays are still a little bittersweet. When my niece was born, it got better, but this is always the time of year that I think about her and what she would be like now had she lived. She was only 23 when she died and fearlessly full of life until she got sick at 21. It helps a lot to talk about it and get a good cry in. I think that we hold in tears and that just makes it harder. Anyways, I love you guys...I know there is always love and support here and I am grateful for it.

Wow, so-close-to-my-heart Anne, I immediately had tears for your pain and loss, my friend.
I can only ever be so very ashamed, regardless of the "why", for how I treat my sister at times, remembering when we were younger, and different.

And maybe I am crazy, but I see an image, of your sister, sitting on your shoulder, not so much protecting you, but more like she is proud to be called your sister. Who wouldn't be.

Guilt is a heavy burden, talking the only way to lighten that load, but so hard to do.
I think, because you shared something so honest, we are blessed too.

Thank you Patti. Your words mean so much to me. I think she is with me too. Smile

Sisters are a blessing in our lives even when they make us crazy!! I am so grateful for my surviving younger sister (even though we have definitely had some issues) we understand each other in a way other people can't because of our shared upbringing and experiences.

It is really hard for me to imagine you not getting along with anyone, there must be reasons, but you are such an amazing person! Whatever it is that makes you ashamed, let it go. I felt like that too and it just messed me all up. Sisters fight like nobody else can. But you will always be sisters.

I think you are wonderful.

((((Carrie)))) I am sorry that you are struggling, living with MS. My heart goes out to you, at your hurt feelings, because people are uncomfortable with what they do not understand.
It's a shame!!
If we slowed down just a little, (why are we all in such a hurry, we all end up the same place I guarantee you) LOL
and paid attention, you'd get the support you so deserve!!!

I cannot imagine how hard it must be for you, to not be able to FIND WORDS to say what you are trying to say, or try to remember something you KNOW you knew....
I can only tell you I am thankful that you chose us (me) to share these personal things with, and that your trust is a blessing to us.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, YOU HAVE DEFINATELY COMMUNICATED ALL THIS WITH SUCCESS, and not on mostly deaf ears!

i 2 have nothing but bad news at this time of the yr. its so depressing. i just quite celebrating all together. i just put a little prelit tree up , only because my grand daughters wated me to have a tree. sofor the last 7 or 8 yrs. it goes up.otherwise i dont ceebrate it, ps. rog loves the little tree. best wishes for all of yous

thought id comment since i havent yet, anyway not here to talk about me as anyone who knows me knows i have many things in my life that get me down and you could say im far from happy in life through many things but the end of the day i carry on and know im lucky compared to many, anyway read the posts and i feel for the people that are suffering at this time of year, especially touched by your post carrie, i can only imagine how you are feeling and its sad the way some people react to things that affect others, anyway id have watched your video if i could have, i know it must be terrible suffering from ms and the constant tiredness, anyway think if you just read pattis reply it would some up what im thinking but she has put it into words better than i ever could, thoughts are with you and take care
