Was just sitting here recalling all the jerks I've played against.None at Poker-Crush.Decided to write a small article about poker etiquette on line.

If you want to be invited back to play Poker with a group of people, there are two options: lose a lot of money, or stay within the bounds of accepted Poker etiquette. Etiquette's a lot cheaper.LOL!!!
Seriously though some players have none at all,we have all played against them.
What I'm gonna say is what I do practicing good poker etiquette.
When playing strangers I usually don't have chat on so I don't have to practice it.That in itself is probably bad etiquette but I want to concentrate and not listen to the crying, bragging and babbling of others. When I do have chat on I congratulate good hands whether I participate in it or not.I never put down the play of others because we have all played bad at times and hate being criticized for it.Also I have never bragged about winning, especially on a bluff.

When playing with friends I always keep chat on,so I know what Al is saying about me.LOL
Friends are hard to keep and very easy to lose so treat them with respect. My poker game is the same playing friends or strangers,as everyones should be,never play less than your best game. However there are some things playing friends I do differently.Normally I never, never show my cards.I will show once in a while for others benefit.Occasionally when I know I have my opponent beat and they fold I'll show so they know they made a good fold and feel good about making the right decision. Also I will show a bluff but ONLY to experienced players all in fun though.
I have never and never will show a bluff to newer players to the game because they feel bad enough losing and it might turn them against the game.
I just wanted to write this to show you all that I respect each and everyone of you as a person and a poker player. The tournies I play with PC members are the most enjoyable and relaxing games I play even though the game itself is being played seriously.Hope you all have the same experience as me.
Thanks Poker-Crushers for making my day!!!!

What a beautiful and scholarly essay, Bower!

I hope many, many people read it and learn from it, because the lesson is absolutely there!

Very good job, my friend!

And, Char, I know you do and it pleases me greatly!

Your very-fortunate-to-have-you Guru

My dear friends ~

Altho I don't have the time I used to have to spend here at PC (since also becoming RoyalCrush, staff member, at CC -------you people make me soooooooo proud to be a Poker Crusher!

Altho I knew it was a special group - very much so - who hung out here, I think that Geno's handing over this forum to PokerGuru (and every move our Guru had made since) has been the strong foundation on which the strongest bonded forum has been built and continues to be built by a group of individuals whose combined brainpower and unconditional loyalty to one other has to be seen to be believed!

I see no limits to our future possibilities. And if ever any limits were attempted to be imposed --- I feel sure that Guru would sweep them out of the way with one swipe, backed up by the whole army of PCers, doing the same!

The etiquette and morals and high standards built into the foundation of our forum will, I feel sure, make us always head and shoulders above the average forum, no matter what type of forum.

And what I was trying so hard to say with all the above is -- that you people make me so very proud to BE one of YOU! And to be one of Guru's proteges!

I feel thankful to every one of you for allowing me to possess this feeling of self respect. Here is where it keeps building and being refortified.

We have so much of which to be proud. And the etiquette we have been taught and we show to the world just has to be to the benefit of every world citizen.

Thank you, my Guru!

Thank you, my fellow members!

royal

Great post, bower, and i agree, but i have to admit to doing some trash talking to inexperienced players...just enough to get em tilted and make bad calls. Good players it's a waste of time usually, that's why they're good...they don't tilt. Chatting to make friends is not stupid either...works well for Daniel Negreanu and he gets information from it. And who knows, no mercy in poker, but you never know, maybe they show a little if they like you. Thanks for starting another great discussion...and damn you overly polite canadians!!! LOL

I have stopped chat when another player starts to annoy me. I don't want to go tilt over it. Usually I can ignore a lot while playing but once in awhile you get that one that pushes buttons. That is the time to close chat or mute them. I love mute button. If you don't know what they are saying you can't get upset. LOL

I agree with everyone when I say it is a JOY to play with PC players. Also a joy when you get to play with other players that have good poker table manners. Sad to say it is so rare to find online. However, when I do find some good players I always tell them it was a joy to play with them.

If everyone would follow our Guru in etiquette online playing would be so much more fun.

I can't wait till we have another PC tourney. They are the greatest!
