"The Maniac"

The maniac is the player who does a lot of aggressive raising, betting, and bluffing.  A true maniac is not a good player, but is simply doing a lot of gambling.

The really good poker player doesn't really gamble that much.  If he is poker-educated, he knows his stuff and also can figure out about how the hand will end -- and bets accordingly.

The poker maniac, being without knowledge, just goes thru the motions and hopes for the best.  Well, we know that is not the way the best is attained.

There always seems to me at least ONE maniac at a table.  And frankly they mess with my head even though I try not to let it affect me.
I immediatly go defensive, I get nervous thinking all the trash hands they win with by bullying others out of the game, (will THIS be the hand they really have something?) and so on.

So now great Guru tell us how to respond to these players.

For the most part, Valeria, disregard them.

Give very little consideration to anything they say or do.

If they distract you from your normal game, get up and find a different table or tournament.
