Lesson Learned...hopefully!!
-----------------------------------
I haven't posted any wins for a bit now. I have been to final table 5 or 6 times, but felt my 1st place coming last night!

*Final 9* & SOME JERK was steady CHIT-Talking to ev1. Then started on women players telling me to give it up,etc!

INSTEAD OF IGNORING IT....I engaged into childish chat & let him get to me, BIG-TIME.....losing my Karma!!

Wasn't even paying attention to what hands were showing, 22 <7-Stud> 2-6-6-? I-All-In to 6789Hrts showing.

When I realized this.......IT WAS WAY TOO LATE!!! I may have done same EVEN w/it showing...I have before!

But, I'll never know because I was so worked up and mad about?? Jeeze I fell right into the trap- 9th Place!

Lesson learned oj.Maybe try how I dealt with them.Turn chat off except when playing with friends until your experience allows that garbage talk not bother you.I use to let chat get to me too,now it doesn't.

Better to learn in a freeroll, OJ. Next time I think you'll be able to ignore it. I must admit I talk chit to put players on tilt....always players that are playing like donkeys (that's my justification for it plus they tend to be the easiest to tilt)). It works, I wait for an almost unbeatable hand, then bet big and they are so wound up they inevitably call. As far as people talking chit to me, I find it easy to ignore cause I don't know these people and they don't know me, what could they possibly say that could bother me. Must admit, tho, I've called a few marginal hands when they're already in just to see if I can get a lucky flop on them....heehee. Talking chit is a two edge sword, might get someone on tilt, but it usually makes you a target at the table so you better play really well and be very patient.

Alright! EVERYBODY!

I agree with every word said in every post above -- and GREAT learning/teaching posts they were!

Congratulations to each of you for having come so far! Reading the posts above, I found myself thinking, "Sounds like pro talk". I would say that is a very good sign!

And OJ..... at least you do learn and also, 9th is not bad at all if any number were playing!

By the way, I, too, often turn off the chat optipon, just because I don't want to be distracted by it!

Some places will also let you block other players chat induvidually so just block that one persons chat so you can enjoy all the other chat if you like.
The way most work is you right click their name and a window will come up and you can choose block.

very good val that is true
i choose to leave chat up and i just "talk" to my computer if i find anyone is trying to distract others (pr myself) i just dont watch the chat and only play my cards there are many people who cant ignore comments and i think new players sometimes feel like they must talk at the table but i choose not to at all with strangers i feel like that is a HUGE disadvantage to me if im worried about what everyone is saying also the hands fly fast and if im trying to type a responce or a "ty" i dont see my cards right away some might think thats rude that i dont reply but as i said i dont want to miss my cards (and or make a fatal miscall) just my opinion
