Satellite Tournaments

Instead of offering a cash prize, a satellite tournament rewards an entry into a higher buy-in tournament to its winners. Most notable are the World Series of Poker satellites.

There are several different types of satellite tournaments-
Generally, most require a more aggressive strategy at the beginning of the tournament and then a more selectively aggressive strategy towards the end.
This is because there tends to be only a few prizes awarded relative to the number of people who buy-in.

However, since first place is awarded the same prize as the person who receives the lowest winning spot, there is no reason to be overly aggressive in accumulating vast amounts of chips.

Satellite Tournaments are sometimes overlooked by less experienced players, which is really too bad. Perhaps the road MOST traveled is just that because it takes less time and makes the most sense. LOL

*You must have at least $30 worth of accumulated prizes to get paid*

-You need the same exchange value of pc points as the cash prize won:
1,500 pc-points = $15.00 Cash

- If you do not have enough, you'll be credited with pc-points instead - so next time you win - you'll be able to cash out in future contests.

-You will need to advise us which payment method you would like us to use to pay you. To do this, please go to the red section above and
click on "My Payment Method" and follow the instructions.

-You only need to do this once (unless you later wish to change it). It may show as pending for 30 days. If you have questions, please send

I am guilty of overlooking many Satellite Tournaments. I'm lured to cash payouts most of the time. Dont mind playing them, but seem to mostly play satellite "freerolls". Of course, anything WSOP would get my attention for sure !!!

I like playing satellites because you don't have to set your sights too high just to make the cut into the next round

my patience is like steves lol so i have played the odd free to enter satellite tourney but its not something i would contemplate buying in to as having to qualify then wait for another tournament to start is of no interest to me as need a quick fix lol, playing normal tounaments for hours is bad enough

I love satalite tournies. It give me a chance to get into the bigger tournies that I could never afford to get into otherwise. I am not a huge depositor so I usually play the cheaper tournies. I love having the chance to play in some of the big ones.

Im not a big spender when it comes to poker for that reason i like the satalite tournies, it gives you a chance to get into the bigger ones.

I play satelites and sit n gos - lately the way I have been playing it doesn't seem to matter - I lose equally well in both! LOL

I have only tried sit n go. Satellite tournaments sound interesting for a change but I don't think it would be something I prefer.
