MIDDLE STAGES STRATEGY IN NLHE MULTI-TABLE TOURNAMENTS

Towards the middle of the tournament, you need to switch gears.
Since the blinds get bigger, stealing the blinds will help you stay alive. Here, the 'gap' concept becomes more important. It takes a much weaker hand than usual to raise to steal the blind, but a stronger hand than usual to call a raise. The middle rounds introduce the 'survival mode' concept.

Again, most of the time you will be looking just to survive and increase your stack bit by bit in the middle rounds. You want to avoid confrontation without the nuts and just take down some small pots without controversy.

However, if you have a large chip stack,
you should take advantage of this survival mode. Take control of the game by raising and frequently putting other people at a decision for all of their chips. After all, if they go all-in, they're risking it all but you aren't because you can lose the pot and still keep on fighting. However, don't do this too much. Steal some pots, but don't be so obvious that people will call you all-in with top or even second pair. Also, don't do this against very bad players. They will call everything

_________
Everyone posting their opinion or personal strategy will be entered in a random draw for 2 x $15 Prizes.

Terms for winning a Cash Prize and *Payout Rules* <a href="http://www.glitter-graphics.com"><img src="http://dl7.glitter-graphics.net/pub/796/796157se7agys3zn.gif" width=100 height=120 border=0></a>

*You must have at least $30 worth of accumulated prizes to get paid*

-You need the same exchange value of pc points as the cash prize won:
1,500 pc-points = $15.00 Cash

-If you do not have enough points to win a cash prize yet, you'll be credited with the same value of cc-points instead - so next time you win - you'll be able to cash out.

- You will need to advise us which payment method you would like us to use to pay you. To do this, please go to the red section above and click on "My Payment Method" and follow the instructions. You only need to do this once (unless you later wish or need to change your payment method option). If you have any questions, please send OrangeCrush or Crushadmin a private message. Smile

The last line is very true, really, at every level. Even in large buy-ins, you can count on a donk making this play.

Yeah I noticed that about the tournies. I do tend to raise pretty good if I have a good stack to do so.

Just ask Rick lol

Yep if I had the chips I would towards the end do raising or if I have a good hand, but does not always work out well for me lol. I loose my shirt or that ugly sweater in the free tournies here on Wenesday nights lol.

I agree totally with this strategy. I have used it alot.

i agree it makes sense and is good advice, but it also depends on type of tournament, if its a freeroll or a buy in, as i know for a fact that i should play proper and i will if ive invested but if its a freeroll even with good prizes at stake i often play for fun... ie i dont really care if i win the prize or not as after a while i tend to get bored(everyone knows ive not got great concentration lol)and if im getting bored then i will just play crazy poker like going all in or calling things that i would not call if i was playing serious, so people have to watch for people that play in this style as no matter how good you are playing luck(the word we arent allowed to use here lol) will not always be on your side and your good cards and play can easily get undone as its more difficult to win against someone that is just playing for fun and does not care if he wins or loses than it is to win against somebody that just calls as they dont understand the rules, remember a pair of aces is so good but all in against an unsuited 2 8 gives you the advantage not a WIN. all it takes is a pair of 2s to appear and your great hand then sucks

I don't really have much of a strategy. When I feel like I have a chance of winning, then I raise. This works as good for me as trying to when remember I [ I]should [/I]raise the bet. Obviously, I need to practice more. Confused

Thanks everybody for having patience with me and my lack of knowledge. Rolling Eyes
