Satellite

A minor tournament that awards a seat or multiple seats into a major tournament. Satellites provide a low-cost way for players to enter high-stakes tournaments.

Most Famous Satellite Ever
In 2003, Chris Moneymaker won a $39 satellite on PokerStars, which awarded him a seat in a larger, more expensive satellite. In that "super satellite," he won a seat in the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event. From there, he went on to win No Limit Hold'em Championship, which captured the imaginations of amateur poker players everywhere and cemented his role as one of the central figures in the poker boom.

Heads-UP
Game inn which only two people are playing; one-on-one.

Hand for Hand
In the late stages of a tournament, a requirement that each table wait to deal the next hand until all tables have finished the current one. This ensures that the number of hands played is equal among all tables.

OK GOT ONE,LOL

The term “Dead Man’s Hand” is used to describe a hand containing two black aces and two black eights.
Why?
Because the famous Wild Bill Hickok was holding such a hand when he was shot. What the 5th card was is still greatly disputed

Nut hand (the nuts) is the best possible hand in a given situation Note: The nut low is the worst hand in a given situation.

WooHooo- Please keep them coming everyone!!
Archie- you da man!
Val- I say very nicely explained.
Shirl, lol for learning & then sharing!

Kid, if you and Archie just get together, we'd be done with your shared knowledge of terms!

Great start & you all ROCK!!

Great time to add-in this one:
Have you ever wondered why payouts sometimes say so much to BLANK from Pot1 , from Pot2, none from Pot3 Etc..

Pot Share-
When someone at the table is all-in with less than the amount others bet, and that person has the NUTS, the extra money in the pot after matching the All-In, goes to whoever has the next highest hand. Sometimes several are All-In and underbet, then it keeps dividing into more POTS accordingly.

IN OTHER WORDS NO MORE THAN YA GOT IN THE POT!! LOL
