WHEN TO QUIT

Even if you are the best poker player in the world, you will have some losing days. Knowing when to just call it quits for the session will do you a world of good for your bankroll.
Fundamentally though, you should quit because you are tilting, you have played a lot already and risk being tired, or you just have other things to do.

Some signs that you may be tilting:
1. You always think your opponents are bluffing.
2. You really want to break even for the day.
3. You want to get back into the action as soon as possible.



Some signs that you may have just played too much poker:
1. You are falling asleep at the table.
2. You have played more than ten hours for the day.
(Never play more than ten hours at any one time. It is better to play many short or medium sessions than a few long ones.)
3. You find it harder to pay attention to your opponents.

wow falling asleep at the table. Now that would be kinda funny. I don't ebelieve I have ever played that long. But I have come close to falling asleep at the table but I didn't even start playing till 1 am once.

If you have a headache, emotional, or just distracted.
If I have a headache, I can't think as well, so I'm not playing my best. Also, if I'm making simple mistakes that you I normally make. I need to pay attention to my emotional state and stop playing if I am taking the loss personally. Sometimes I am too upset or excited about something that happened elsewhere and I keep getting distracted. If I had a winning streak somewhere else, I might be overly confident.

That is sooooooo true Gloria!! I have found myself doing just that, mad at something else, and playing like a maniac!!

And also the over-confidence coming from a win I worked hard for, to find myself OUT quick for not playing thee hands I held... Confused

10 hours??? lol after one hour my concentration goes, i finf myself playing the game but also starting to do other things on internet, if i had the concentration i might do ok at poker but just cant stay focued long enough, but ty for all thge above advice

I need to take a break, move to another table etc when other players at the table start to really irritate me so that I play with a grudge or to spite them. Time to go!!!! This happens when playing with idiots that go all in a lot even when they have nothing. Of course, in that case, you should leave that table anyway..

Being hungry, too tired or catch yourself making foolish mistakes.... TILT time... and time to go Smile

Playing online and having major distractions all around you at home... also time to quit for awhile. You cannot play good if you are being constantly distracted. You make very foolish mistakes.

Of course, I make a lot of foolish mistakes anyway, so this just magnifies the problem LOL
