What would be considered a healthy bankroll to start playing more seriously?
Can a living be made by playing ONLY online? Or must a player join live tournaments to make this possible?
What types of games are recommended? Which to stay away from?

Kid, I promise to answer each of your questions in detail.
For now, let me say it is MOST DEFINATELY possible to make a good living playing ONLY online poker!
I will give you ALL the details as soon as I finish all of May's contest winners, get the Portal page updated to June, get at least one June contest started, see that all the May winners are on the books to be PAID, finish May's monthly report, get the next lesson out, and at least glance at my messages marked URGENT. (All of that won't take long!)
I will be VERY glad to get you started in the direction you have chosen, and believe great things await you!
Please forgive me for not being able to answer immediately. I want to be able to give it some serious thought instead of just throwing something out there that looks good!
