The Archive - May - "It Scared Me" CONTEST - WINNER ANNOUNCED! PokerGuru - 08.05.2009, 04:28 Post subject: May - "It Scared Me" CONTEST - WINNER ANNOUNCED!Hi to my Poker Crushers ____
There is one thing that always comes to your mind every time you hear someone say, "It scared me nearly to death!"
There is one thing in all our lives, from the time we were little kids right up to the present, that scared us so much more than anything ever had before or ever has since.
Maybe something supernatural or unexplainable ..... or maybe just very frightening reality.
For the chance to win $30, please post below the whole story of what that one time was like for you -- and whether the thought of it still scares you today.
Don't make 'em too short to be interesting now, gang! Tell it all and drag it all out! Scare those who read it!
RULES:
You must have 3000 earned PC points to redeem for a $30 cash prize. If you come up short, you will receive 3000 PC points instead of cash, so you will have them next time!
You must have informed us of how you wish to be paid, by filling out the form titled "My Payment Method", found at the top of every page.
Winner(s) will be determined by the use of a blind drawing box, into which names of participants will be placed. The box has a built-in stirrer which mixes the names and a built-in propellant which shoots out the name(s) of the winner(s). Yes. I, Guru, am the architect of this super-fair contraption, which I call The Winners Box.
You must post your experience below.
Deadline is the last day of the month at midnight.
Everyone who participates gets their name in the box, unless you write only one or two sentences. That does not usually make a good scarey story.
Have fun and scare yourself all over again!

OK, I know what I'm going to write about for this one! This should be perfect, I hope, just what you mean! Something that happened a long time ago when I was little, but suitably scary (to me) for sure! I'm getting scared now just thinking about it.
But I'm not ready to post it yet - just about to have dinner, so I'm going to put it on hold for the moment ... but very soon, I'll be back with my scary story to tell everyone right here.
I just wanted to make a post now about it so I wouldn't forget ...
and to WARN you that it was coming!
Those of you who scare easily might need to cover your eyes though. (Well, if this was a movie, you would cover your eyes ... you know what I mean!)
Be back soon!

It happened just 3 weeks after we lost our beloved dog, Bentley, to cancer. He was a very loving yet very possessive dog,He did not like strangers.
I had just had a hysterectomy with a vertical incision and had just come home from the hospital that day. As I could not go up the stairs yet, I was sleeping on a hospital bed in the living room. Thank God we had a bathroom on the first floor.
All of the lights were on , all over the first floor and the television was on and turned fairly loud. It was quite late, and my husband was sleeping on the love seat, he did not want me to be alone (how sweet). As even then, I was hard of hearing, I could not sleep due to the pain, so I was watching the telly.
I absolutely had to go to the bathroom, so I struggled up off the bed, and walked 2 steps into the dining room doorway, when I raised my eyes, I could not believe it! There was a strange MAN standing in the dining room, ready to go up the stairs where my 12 yr old daughter was sleeping.
I really never believed that women scream like they show in the movies, but let me tell you, I could do nothing but scream. I held my incision
with both hands, took in a double lungful of air, closed my eyes and let it rip!
My scream brought my husband off the love seat and had him running to me, and all I could get out was "There's a man in the house." By then the man was no where to be seen. My husband went upstairs to see if that is the direction he went, and I phoned the police. The police arrived quickly with 4 patrol cars (The local law knew me well and knew when I called, there was TROUBLE.) One officer came into the house and the other 3 started searching the neighborhood for a stranger in the area. My husband had returned downstairs, thanks God there was no one there (Upstairs).
The police officer proceeded to search the entire house from attic to basement, and he discovered that the back door had been left unlocked (by my husband, no doubt). The man had walked into a visibly occupied home! The police officer said the man was either drunk or on drugs to have done that, but my screaming had probably scared him quite well.
The officer had relayed my description of the man to the other officers outside and got a call back, that they had stopped a man fitting that description just a block away!
The policeman had me in his car (backseat) and took me to identify the man. As we drove past, I could see it was the same man! It turned out he was drunk and looking for a bed, he did not care where.
I really missed my dog that night, the man would never had gotten into the house in the first place!
But what a fright I had!

Hmmmm I have had some doozies but the thing that scared me most were some dreams I had.. well they didn't scare me to death but they have remained with me for years.. all of them had strong meanings though. So I guess I will just tell a real one...
I was looking for a new home to rent. I was very busy that day and kept putting off to go look at this house. The owner told me he would leave it unlocked for the day so I could go and look at it later.
Well later became very late and I finally went to look at the house and it was already almost dark outside.
I had my kids with me and we were looking around the yard and through the window. I decided to check if the house was still unlocked and it was so we went inside to look real quick because the light was fading so fast that we almost couldn't see.
I had my back to the door when I was looking at the living room and suddenly a voice yelled, "FREEZE! This is the police!" I about had a heart attack. A cop had a gun on me. I never want to hear that again!! They thought I was burgalizing the place or something!
I explained what was going on but that absolutely scared me to death!
(We didn't get the house. lol)

The house and barn have long been gone, but forever will we remember it. The barn had an emblem drawn on one of it's side - I was told it Satanic...and the residents were to believed to be exactly that..Devil worshippers. Naive, wreckless and mischevious we were as highschoolers - thought we were tough and brave. One of us Robbie A. was already 6'2 and on the basketball team - so why wouldn't he be tough. Well...during lunch break...the gang had a bright idea to head up to 13th Side Road...at this time only 2 of us had a driver's license and car..myself and Rick....and we crammed everyone we could. We parked along the side of the road closest to the property...and everyone quickly got out except for myself and a girl..she was scared..I wanted to be da man...LOL..but then she was decided to take a camera out..roll down the window and started taking pictures of the side of the barn and the emblem. SUDDENLY...we hear a scream.....a piercing high pitch scream...but who...and where...and the we hear "OMG someone stop the car stop the car..." - this puzzled because I was in the car...and I know it was parked... we were all stunned to see 6'2 Robbie...on the ground with the rear tire right on top of his leg. No one witness how it happened...when we asked Robbie after rolling the car off his leg...he would say anything...just crying...I don't think he ever talk about even up to now. But you think that's all...nope...Rick's car...by the end of the week...literally fell apart...1st day it was a mirror...next a bumper...and then molding.steering wheel..ball joints snapped...and then remember the pictures. well...I went with her to get them developed..remember when you got the pictures you would also get this slide of film..so you couldn't the change the order (or if u did i wouldnt know how) well there a whole bunch of pictures of us posing around the car...Robbie's bruised leg. But what about the barn? Here and there and in between...blanks....not one picture of the barn or house...just us and then a few pictures with nothing..just white. well...she and a few others weren't able to sleep for awhile...but me I was curious...but...I'm gonna stop here.. there is more...and maybe even more scarier or bewildering...(insert commercial break)....break over proceed...to screen - TO BE CONTINUED...

cocakolakid - 13.05.2009, 00:26 Post subject:
And now we the continue with 13th Side Road...
Word had quickly spread from one highschool to another and without fail every weekend before everyone went home - a group would pay a visit to take see if anything would happen...but I'm not sure if our particular group had a tag on us (Like in the movies such as "I know what you did, last summer").
I don't think I was expressive enough earlier about just how scared our group was from out incident...we literally stayed away for at least 3 months..and Robbie..didn't talk to us anymore and had avoided us completely..like he just disappeared. Well..maybe it was pride or maybe cuz I didn't want to be made out as I liar...but a few friends that weren't with us..began to doubt the story and challenged me. And so,...I said..I'll go there and i'll show where we parked...where the pictures we taken and where Robbie was lying on the ground with the cars rear wheel on his leg. So that night about 5-6 cars, packed with teens, made their way to 13th Side Road...it was dark...in this area it's pretty much farmland...and street lights were miles away. We drove up north and then made a right turn to go east on 13th Side Road...one by one.. as we got closer to the barn...we turned off our headlights and proceeded....slower..slower...and finally rolled to a stop. Then just as someone was about to get out his car....these dark doberman's....8 of them...were jumping, snarling and barking...even jumping on top of the cars. It was crazy...one car bolted...and with others to follow...but I couldn't...two of these dogs were on the hood...furiously expressing their anger with us being there...the two girls in the back...we screaming and crying...and my buddy and I in the front just looked each other - I think more amazed...and so glad we were in the car and not outside. Finally I saw an opening, both dogs went with the other dogs at the sides of my car....VROOoooooooooom I took offf...but it would be short...as I approached the intersection to turn right (south) to get off that damn street...this white van...cuts off...and sits in the middle of the intersection...then..and I still remember it so clear..this pale white face...a boy..appeared...so clear..looking at us through the side window...instinctively...I made a quick u-turn and headed back down 13th Side Road...to go past the dogs and the barn.......and all of a sudden..screeeeeeeeeeech as i slammed on the brakes.....
the white van....how???? but it was there..and the same kid looking out the window....
my buddy who was all cool and calm before...he was crying...no..he was bawling....;
once again...put the car in gear,...made another u-turn...and bolted...
no van this time...made that right...and went to my buddy's place
we stayed at his place until morning ...talking about happen..playing cards
then on the radio....an announcement was made...that police are looking for a white van involved in a hit and run of a young boy in the vicinity of 13th Side Road/Airport Rd......
.....true story...

My three year old(at the time) daughter jumped out of the car after I undid the car seat and laughing, she bolted down the driveway towards the EXTREMELY busy street my aunt lived on. Wanting my attention, I yelled at her and she stopped 3 feet from cars racing by at 45 mph!! Looking at me I started towards her, she took 2 steps backwards, thinking it was a game, wanting me to chase her!!! My heart was in my throat!!! My aunt, one smart lady, said, PATTI, turn around and walk away towards the house. I FROZE!! How can I do that, my daughter will get ran over!! Realizing, and praying I was right, I had to ignore her. It took everything in me to walk away and leave her that close to the cars, but I did it. Realizing, I was going out of her sight, THANK GOD, she started running towards me....hollaring "Mommy" until she was safely in my arms again. Never was I that scared!! Never before and never again!

It was about a week before my wedding day . I got my pants scared out of me I will never forget . My fieance and I where going to a party one night before our big day with a lot of our friends .It was around 8:00 PM on a very cold night of 80 Below wind chill . We where off and on our way to be with friends . Steve & I where just about to come up on a bridge that crosses the fox river just before the a mental hospital . Where we saw a man walking down the side of the road . This hospital was well know for escapee's to wonder off . So we paid no attention to him . All of a sudden as we where going about 70 miles a hour in the middle of the bridge was a car taking up a Lane and a half of the road way ahead . No lights on or flashers no flares no warning of any kind . Steve slowed down by tapping his break peddle . All of a sudden we started to slide . It was only a 2 road highway . We had missed the stalled car by inches . See we had went from one cement wall to the other side to another cement wall .Back and forth many times . We came to a stop on the right side of the road just after the stalled car and hit the right side of the wall for the last time . Just before my eyes I say our license plait go over the wall and into the river below . Then notice the right tire of the car had started to crush the firer wall of the wheel well and was on my foot .Put there was no pain it never hurt me at all . But had to rip my pant leg of my jeans to get me out . Oh by the way we never hit the other car at all . not one scratch on it . But my god you should have seen Steve's car , it was totaled . We both ended up in the emergency room for the night . Never made it to the party .But well alive thanks to our angle that was watching over us . I will never forget that scare of my life

Hi,
I was 16 yrs old when my grandmother died...after the 1st wake, we were all in bed and my parents were downstairs sleeping, I was lying in bed in the den when I heard footsteps come up the stairs and when I opened my eyes I saw my grandmother walk by the room in white pajamas... you can imagine my fear so I turned on the light and then saw my father who had just come up stairs...strange thing is my dad had on black pants and was shirtless and he had lots of black hair on his chest (these days it's grey)..
I had to sleep with my light on for years & years and every now and again I still have to

I think the scariest thing for me was 2 years ago I told my gyn that I had a little lump under my belly button that hurt and he decided to have a ct done to see if I had a hyernia.Due to having severe curvature to the spine apparently the ct doctor noticed a lump under the tail of my pancreaus and surgery needed done right away which consisted of 30 percent of the pancreas and my spleen and the most frightening thing ever was him telling me that it was cancer and god was watching over me due to the death rate of thattype of cancer and being curved being able to see the cancer under the tail.I still get frightened every 3 months when i have my pet scans and it usually moves to the liver and within 5 years and god being with me all I have experienced is critical high blood platelets when working on my back due to stress but so far so good but it was the scariest thing I have ever experienced the day the doctor said the word cancer. My last checkup a week ago was still good so god is definately with me during this scarey time in my life....

Omigosh - I almost forgot about this contest til it was almost too late! Now that's really scary!
But here's my story of when I was really scared once when I was little:
My mom and dad and my brother and sister and I went on vacation to Disneyland one summer, when all 3 of us kids were all under about 10 years old. And we drove, in the family car, "Griswold family"-style, all the way from our home in Oklahoma to Southern California- something like 2000 miles, I think, right? Whatever it was, it was an awful long way, especially in the summer and with 3 little kids in the car!
I guess by the time we got to New Mexico (about halfway-ish), the kids were probably getting antsy, tired of being in the car, etc., etc., and my mom decided to divert our attention by telling us a story. A true story though!
We were just passing through Tucumcari, NM, a name that will always sound scary to me because of this story she told us! She said that some convicted murderer had escaped from prison near here once and was never caught. Rumor was that he was hiding somewhere in Tucumcari, the very town we were in right then! I wish I could remember all the details of her story, because she made sure it was a good one, but I can't remember much except that this man was a murderous monster and he was known as "RED-EYE!" (Can't remember why he had that nickname!)
The whole town knew about him, and everyone was scared of him because of all the horrifying things he'd done and since he was still on the loose to this day! She said since his escape, young people parked out on Lover's Lane came back with stories of being terrorized by him, and at least some of them didn't live to tell the tale!
She kept saying this was all a true story and that if you asked anyone in this town about "RED-EYE" , they'd tell you the same thing. Well, I remember not being sure if she was making it all up or not, but she told it seriously enough that I was still scared, even if I wasn't sure I believed her or not!
So anyway, pretty soon, we stopped to eat at a restaurant, still in Tucumcari, and as we were leaving, the waitress stopped us and in a FEARFUL voice told us to be sure and be careful out there because, as she said, "You do know about RED-EYE , don't you?"
All 3 of us kids GASPED and said "You mean he's really real?" and all that, and the waitress went on to corroborate my mother's story and told us how scared everyone was of him and how he'd killed people and all that, and so we thought it was a true story and thought it was a real scary one too!
I know now that when we got ready to leave that restaurant, my mom went off to the restroom, and on her way back to our table, she stopped that waitress and told her about the RED-EYE story she'd been scaring us with on our way there, and asked her to play along! I bet she got a little tip from my mom too for doing it, now that I think about it.
I don't remember when I found that out, but I've heard that story a hundred times in our family of how she told the story and then got a local waitress in on it to get us good and scared.
So remember, if you're ever in Tucumcari, watch out for RED-EYE! I know I will!
THX 4 CONTEST!

I must admit that the hair on the back of my neck stood up more than once while reading your scarey stories!
How little we really know when it comes to the mysteries of Life!
In my opinion, Mankind has always overestimated our intelligence about All Things. I believe you do not have to see it or understand it for a thing to be real and to exist, as surely as we exist.
Thank goodness, poker does not have to be a mystery!
Our winner this month for the contest "It Really Scared Me" is .....................................................................................................
Congratulations, Kid! And let me assure you there was much luck involved in your win! LOL!
Many thanks to all the others who have given me reason to turn the light on more often than I did before!
