Post subject: "If I Could Change One Thing" - WINNER ANNOUNCED!
Hi PCers!

Thanks to our good member Beckie for this contest idea!

As I have often said, there is much more to life than poker, altho sometimes we don't sound that way.

But it's a great big world out there, and in this contest, all you have to do is tell us what you would change about it, if you could!

Same rules as always. Deadline is September 30th.

This should be good reading! EXPRESS YOURSELF!

Your PokerGuru

People would be forbidden to lie....I cannot stand lying and liars. The devastation and hurt it causes people can't be measured in words. I'd rather someone stole from me than lie to me. That's what I would change. Great contest idea by the way.

I would end all child abuse and cruelty to animals. Our children and our pets are not here by their choice and also cannot leave their situations so are powerless to change bad situations. It it up to us to be their protectors!!!

It would be a much better place if people would always follow the most simple "golden rule" treat others as they would like to be treated.

I agree with all postings and would like to see the mega rich people who don't know what to do with all their money help get rid of poverty in the world starting with their own country.

I have to enter this one myself!! LMBO!

I agree with Spookth whole-heartedly and I would toss in Miss Beckie's as well.

Then, without a doubt, I would have to add Bower's, especially since he added "starting with your own country". I have always believed "Charity should begin at home".

Of course, if we all simply followed the Golden Rule, nothing else would be necessary.

I am VERY PROUD of all your answers!

Your Guru, hoping always to be as decent as his followers.

All this is great . I would like to change the way our children are to day . There are so many that treat there parents so badly . Kids have no respect today for there parents and others . Some want so much more than a parent can afford . Some disrespect others . Some are very good kids too , but there are alot of the other ones out there . Not that I believe in spankings but some thing needs to change .

I would make everybody in the world realize that if they can feel pain, physically or emotionally, SO CAN ANIMALS!!!!!! And make them know that animals think as well. They love, are loyal, care for everyone in their family, even the humans. In fact, they do everything humans do EXCEPT lie, cheat, deceive, and kill for no reason!!!!!

I would also make them know that neglect is a form of abuse!

People who do not keep their pets from thirst, hunger, cold, and extreme heat, should have to suffer the exact same thing to see what it feels like!

AND NO VIOLENCE!!!!!!!!

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,

I am also unable to even hurt an animal mentally, not to mention physically.
I Have a wonderful dog named ' Bobbo-Bingo.'
He has ' Child like status.' in my home.
And I speak the truth when I say this.
When I could see only the backs of people who I used to consider my friends, my canine companion was ever faithful.
An animal he may be, but the hours I spent walking him, the people I met while walking him, and the affection I was able to give and receive because of him, and the many times he took my mind off of the sadness that I could not otherwise hide from, means that although he came to me free of charge, all the worlds wealth could not buy him from me today.
An excellent, and thought provoking post my dear friend.

PS. This post reminds me of when my son came home from school recently, he was absolutely brokenhearted.
He said that all his classmates keep treating him like a pig.
When I asked him why, he said it was because they all thought he was such a weeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaakling !"

sooooooooorrrrryyyyyyy

Hello everyone,

I believe that there will be a day, far off into the future, when mankind will find a way to regenerate the human body, especially the brain.
Then, whenever a child is born with a disability, science can come to Mother Nature's rescue, by regenerating and making perfect the disabilities that many children acquire before they've even taken their first breaths.

I wish that the day when this will be possible, was today.

I would change the medical field in a way that if u go to the Dr on a Monday regardless if u need lab work,x-rays, full body scans,,that they Must know what the heck is wrong with you within a weeks time, No more waiting and waiting and waiting for results or for certain tests to be performed. That alone can drive a person to go insane.

They found 2 spots on my fathers lungs 2 weeks ago. its so very hrd to get him to eat bcuz he says it hurts to swallow.he is getting weaker and weaker bcuz he cant eat,,hes lost about 50lbs in 1 months time.He is finally gonna have a biopsy on Wednesday to see if its cancer and if so is it treatable.
I would always give my dad a certain look if i was ever scared ,,for comfort of course, and now my dad is giving me that same look.Trying to comfort my BEST FRIEND (my dad) without showing him the scared look on my face has become harder and harder as each day passes.

Sorry everyone ...for going on and on !!

But anyway that is what I would change!!

Well I can't say just ONE thing as there are too many already listed here that I totally agree with. Cruelty to animals and children or for that matter ANY abuse to anyone mental or physical. Helping the poor, feeding the world. I wish I was a brilliant scientist that could discover a way to end world hunger with out dollar signs attached to it.

I would like to see the elderly get FREE medical and medicines. The price of perscription drugs are worse than what the kids can buy off the streets dollar wise. If you can't afford a life saving drug well guess you have to die. It is stupid.

Compassion, laughter, common sense and loving your fellow man would go a long way in solving many problems.

I think the problem with the kids today is there is no more parent figure at home because both parents have to work to survive. There is no more "family" there is just people who live in the same household. Parents aren't heros anymore just breadwinners.

WOW!!! I just realized how depressing I sound!! LOL Better add a little laughter here Razz

One thing is nobody listens anymore everyone just talks. We need to stop and listen more.

Tons of love and huge group hug!!!!!!!!!!

My dear friend, Mojo,

Please.....NO APOLOGY! You had every right!

My heart was breaking for you as I read your post.

How very courageous of you to be your fathers strength, now that he needs it and I get the impression that only you can provide it.

Far from being able to give you advice in this area, I CAN tell you one thing that I know for a fact is true! Being courageous does NOT mean being unafraid. It means being what you are needed to be IN SPITE OF your fear!

Feel free to PM me at any time, Mojo, if you feel a need to talk with someone who understands. Then I can give you my Instant Messenger ID and perhaps we can offer each other a bit of comfort concerning our fathers.

Your caring Guru

My dear Char,

I cannot help but wonder why oh why are there so many sorrows and worry-filled moments all over the world today?

Different groups and cults probably are sure they have the right answer. They might even fight over it, adding to the sorrow. It must be nice to be so sure, but I would not know.

All I know is that I hurt with those who hurt and worry with those who worry and ask my own Creator for help for us all.

Please feel free to PM me if you would like my Instant Messenger ID so that we could chat more personally, but only if you think it might help. I would hate to think I might waste important time for any of my PCers.

In any case, please know that my concern for you is very real. Please keep us informed, if you wish to do so.

Sincerely,
Your Guru

UPDATE...ON MY DAD

6 HRS B4 biopsy ( for 2 spots behind lungs?? ) my dad had mild heart attack. He didnt know ..said it was just a little hard to catch his breath but nothing Major.

My dads White blood cells are very very low (annemic as well) ..they dont know why..may b from 2 spots??...bcuz of this they can not fix his heart yet bcuz very bad chance of bleeding to death

He has a little water in his lungs ( cant mess with this yet until biopsy)

his Liver is infected (not enuff white blood cells to help fight it)

There is a little bit of good news though

He is starting to eat a little more (needs to build strength up)

and

despite everything that they find damaged in his body...The Man Is In No Pain

Thank God
