I find these qualifiers to be among the most difficult tournies I've entered.
I'd swap any tourney win I've ever had for a result like yours.
It's an amazing effort and I'm really pleased for you.

played the same tourney today and finished 7th....blew it at the final table with some loose calls.....but happy that I could make final table twice in a row. Bower, had I made the top 5 do you get a ticket for the following week? Or can't you stockpile tickets?

Al you can only qualify once for the $2500 tourny.You can qualify about 8 times for the $1500 one.

Ive won a $50 freeroll about 10 days ago, and I usually make the WFME qualifier
But for some reason I've never made the WSOP main event.
I think it's to late for me now, I'll forever tilt in that particular qualifier.
As soon as I see letters WSOP now, I hear the music from the film Omen
So I've got no choice, I didn't want to ask him because he's been studying very hard for his French O level exam next week,
But I'm going to have to ask my dog 'Bobbo to play the tourney for me.
Beware, he plays an aggressive style and is fond of suited connectors.

WTG treehug...let's make a date with bower to meet at the final table Monday! And Al, i had the same luck for the longest time at the WSOP qualifiers....bad beats knocking me out early every time...then all of a sudden I'm going deep into all of them....much of it due, i think, to playing a little more conservative and not pushing all in, even when I think I have the best hand--that way if I'm bad beat again I usually have some chips to come back with. When I won my 3rd place I was under 1000 chips twice early on, but found some bad players to double up against and get back into it.

May you all play to your capabilities, with three crushers in the same tourney the odds of a crusher winning it have dramatically increased.

I was just gonna be your cheerleader for 2 reasons: For one, I am not really a tourney player. I have always and still do play the table games (ring games). And two, I honestly don't have much time for playing lately.
But the fun you guys are having at Jungle Poker is simply irresistable to me now. I want to join you.
So, with a sure welcome, I guess I will be signing up at Jungle Poker. I notice the Guru and Geno GOT US A BANNER FOR JUNGLE POKER! So when I click on it to join, cha-ching! more money heads to PC and you know what that means! Admin here always makes sure regular members get their share of all income. I think that is great!
So get your friends to sign up here, then at Jungle with our banner, and it will help us all.
I would like to ask you tourney players a big question: What is the difference in playing at a table or playing at a tourney? What is the best way to play at a tourney?

Thank you for sparing us your time, and explaining about the banner's.
I have an O level degree for missing the blatantly obvious. I wondered why they were there. I have though always mentioned poker crush in the ' how did you hear about us box.'
Due to the deposit methods open to me being limited, there are only certain sites I can use, thankfully the Prima network sites are okay, so I'll remember to use your banner's from now on.
I'll also make a post about a deposit method I use that is so simple, no cc's and is instant if I may.

In reply to your question Royal,I usually play very conservatively to start a tourny until all the wingnuts are gone.I usually take some of their money.Then I play my game.Patience is still a big part of it.Even a little bluffing when in the right position.{don't tell Al }I am very rarely among the big stacks during the tourny,usually in the middle of the pack.
As we get nearer the end I get more aggressive because if you don't the blinds will eat you up.
At ring tables you can't eliminate the wingnuts who stay in and river you way too often.That's why I prefer to play tournies,the crazies get eliminated eventually.I've tried playing their way but it just doesn't work for me.I like poker when playing poker,not bingo.
I still lose too but I go much deeper into tournies more often since changing my strategy.

I play exactly the same, playing only premium hands especially from early position as throwing in a few chips tentatively, hoping no-one will raise will far to often lose you these chips to the wingnuts ( great name ) who chance all-ins, but don't tell anyone,

Agree with Bower and ALW except i do try to see flops when the blinds are only 20 or 40 dollars just and try to flop a big hand to take advantage of the wingnuts....this sometimes has gotten me in trouble early, but more often i double or triple up my initial chips, then go into the more conservative mode that Bower and ALCW talk about.

I think thats a good point allight,
I try and see the flop from late position if unraised, and play decent hands from early position.
I think if your disciplined it should be a boring game that gets right up your nose.
As you watch the 'wingnuts' lol, win a pot with nothing more than K4,Q7, and J3.
But make a note of the first player you see do that, then 30-45 mins later have a look how he is doing,
I'd be surprised if he is still in the tourney.
Don't be discouraged if you see him chip leader, lol, it's only due to a large portion of luck.
And I think luck is the element of the game that fools losers into thinking they're winners.
Stay tight and your cards will come. Your not after bringing the house down.
A couple of mediocre pots out of say 15-20 will be enough to keep your stack above average.
Try and avoid all-ins if you can as you'll more often than not end up in a 3,4 or even 5 way splits.
This reduces everybodys chances no matter what you hold.

I think discipline is very important. If we stuck to our gameplan strictly,
I'm sure we would all be much better players.
How often have you been eliminated from a tourney knowing full well that your last play wasn't good one.
My problem with discipline is watching a player raise every other hand and win pot after pot.
Until I develop an unhealthy hatred or envy towards them.
So much so that I end up playing the player, and nothing else.
Is it all in my mind, or does the big stack win much more than 50% of the 50/50 coin flip hands.
Of course he does, that is why he is the big stack.
Is that right?

I bought a book called '' How to win at Texas Hold'em '' or something similar.
By the time I'd read up to page three, and before I'd even got back home.
I felt once again that I'd been fleeced of my money.
It clearly stated that J-J wins just a touch more than it loses.
So be careful not to overplay them it warned
It's a good idea to treat them as though they are a pair of 8's.
Which confused me a great deal, because they are not 8's, they are Jack's.
And in any case, I think 8's are even worse.
And if you play Jack's like 8's, then what do you do with 8's, play them liken they are 5's.

You've made all excellent points, Alan, i do hate JJ tho, hard hand to play and been burned with it many times. Hate A Q too. Still struggle with what to do with it, so both hands I tend to play either super aggressively or super timidly and hope for the right flop.
