POKERGURU PRESENTS (Archive) - MY HEAVY HEART PokerGuru - 21.04.2007, 09:16 Post subject: MY HEAVY HEARTMy dear PCers,
It is with a heavy heart I tell you why I have been gone a few days.
Among those killed at the Virginia Tech massacre were 4 of my best friends. They were a part of the very first group to first bestow upon me the the prestigious and now more cherished than ever title of "Our Guru".
They were former students of mine in the public schools, two of them now professors themselves. We were so very close. As I am growing to feel very close to you.
I was asked to attend the convocation for the dead and so I did.
My grief is strong, but with a heart feeling great loss, we shall continue here.
I know you well enough to feel sure I have your understanding. I'm afraid that now I will always carry a certain fear for YOUR safety.
But we will try to put this behind us, tho never the beautiful memories of them, and we shall carry on, as they would have wished. They, also, loved gambling, especially poker.
I thought about saying nothing. But this is too big a part of me and so I had to share it with my new flock, my Crushers who have become my latest group of sweethearts of my heart.
I appreciate your understanding, which I feel sure I have.

Dear Guru ...
I am also so very very sorry for your loss
I've been following the news about this in Finland where it has been very widely shown on TV, but also in other media and news papers.
Saw a photo where the US embassy here in Helsinki had roses at it's gate.
Although we are far away we still feel your pain ...
My thoughts are with you, Guru and also with them who lost their loved ones ...
(((BIG HUGS)))

Dear Guru -
Thank you for your very kind words about my country ...
I guess sometimes it takes tough times and experience of many hardships to be able to understand what is true pain and sorrow ...
Finns have been through a lot during past 100 years ...
Maybe it's because of that (history) or maybe it's just a natural thing (that we do care) ...
Thank you again ... your wonderful words really touched me.

It saddens me greatly such losses as this ... and for what?
My deepest and sincerest heartfelt sympathy goes out to you Guru and the families that were all affected. It seems so senseless.
Tragedy is a good word for this. My prayers and thoughts go out to you and all those that lost loved ones. It creates an empty hole where once was a friend, wife, husband, father, mother and grandparents.
Thank God we have minds to remember and mourn those loved ones.
I am doubly sad that 4 of them were close friends Guru. Please know our hearts go out to you.
Valeria
P.S. What a beautiful headstone kaska! Lovely.

My dearest Guru ~
I wish so badly that a few years back a group of laughing hyenas, jackals, and jackasses had not made a mockery of the words "I feel your pain".
Because I truly do feel your pain and it is deep.
Until you meet again, I am sure you will carry the lives of your loved ones within your warm and loving heart. As long as they are there, they will remain with you always.
I wish I knew what else to say, but no words can make it better. My prayer is that all our words may help just a little bit.

I'm so sorry that I am just now seeing this post.
Guru,
My thoughts and prayers are with you, your friends and all of the victims and their families. It was such a shock to see the breaking news. I wish I knew the right words to comfort you.
I would suggest (when the time is right for you) for you to help keep their memories alive. When my grandfather past, I started a journal all about him. I wrote down things that meant something to him, such as his favorite football team, his favorite meal. The nickname he gave to me. But most important I wrote down my memories of him, how he would load us up and take us to the local joint for an ice cream cone or how he would come by and watch me during a high school softball game and yell out, " Hey ump you wanna borrow these" while holding up his glasses, when the ump would make a bad call in his eyes. By keeping this journal I have been able to pass on my memories of him to others.
There were many nights that I would make an entry and cry my eyes out, but now that I am much older and yes forgetful, I have a record that refreshes my memories everytime I read it. I believe my journal helps me to feel that I am still very close to him.
If at anytime, you feel able to share a story or two about your friends, I would loved to hear them.
PokerGuru - 07.05.2007, 22:52 Post subject: Bee, I thank you so very much.
Maybe with a bit more time, I will be able to share some wonderful stories here on the forum.
It may also take a while before I can start a journal about them, but I certainly will do that and thank you for the very good suggestion.
Your Guru too!
P.S. So glad you are making more time to be with us. You are a very valuable member!
