Banter and Bitchin' - General Chat + Questions and Answers - Small Blind Question beckie33 - 01.03.2007, 20:20 Post subject: Small Blind Question
Ok...so it's your small blind... you have $500 of the $1,000 big blind up there .... your cards end up being K-4 off suit.... do you put the other half in and see what the flop is or fold? I usually fold HOWEVER the flop ends up working in my favor had I stayed in..... soooo Poker Guru(and other PC'ers).... what is your opinion?
ALSO...what does "Limp in" mean?
Thanks Beckie

Well Beckie...I'll tell you what I think....the Guru might find fault ,but then we'll both learn a bit more!!LOL....The King -rag OS gives me the absolute willies. Almost invariably, when I've played them I got in a heap of trouble.I'll pair my King and get crushed by my kicker or someone will pair an ace or get trips with their small PP. If you're in the small blind then the blinds are passing you and 500 is a substantial amount of chips. The 500 chips isnt the biggest problem though, the biggest problem is the mess of trouble you can find yourself in if you happen to flop a King!!!It might be worth a shot if everyone else has folded , but its still scary!!

Hi Becky,
I agree with spookth, It seems tempting to play because you have already made half the bet. But lets presume you call, and you hit a king on the flop. This will tempt you into the final round's where the bet's usually become more expensive, when all the while your hand could easily have been beaten by a K-5 before the flop, a time when you hadn't bet any chip's.
Unless there is only the you & big blind left in. I say " Don't play"
Good Luck
Alan
PokerGuru - 02.03.2007, 10:14 Post subject: My opinion and also what I do is:
FOLD'EM! FOLD'EM! FOLD'EM!
Also, to limp in means to play when you really don't have much to play with and very little chance of winning.
Good thinking to you, who are already a WINNER! Very good poker player! Some of it may have to do with not being afraid to ask questions!!!!!!!!
So proud of you........of ALL WHO HAVE POSTED HERE!

Thank you for all of your answers!! Fold Em it is! PokerGuru - 06.03.2007, 12:21 Post subject: Beckie, you are an ideal scholar of whatever you have an interest in!
You are already very, very good and yet you take advice with absolutely no hesitation or whining, especially supported advice.
I really think it's about time for you to think about trying to figure out on paper how you might manage to quit your day job and come out better with just poker.
