Hi,

ALW I say hell no Wink Poker can be a good past time and something that you both can share and do together....

Alot of people make a darn good living at playing poker...heck look at our Poker Guru... Wink

ALW if you have taught your son responsability (which I'm sure you have) and dignity plus not to cheat others than go for it..

He doesnt have to play for money, he can play for privledges...

For example: Your son probably has chores to do around the house so if he wants out of lets say taking the garbage out for a week then have him play you for it and stuff like that...

This is just my opinion...ALW at least if you teach him you know its not in some shady place where god knows who hangs out...

Hope this helps..

Hugs,

Sarah Smile

hi alw i dont see any problem with teaching your son poker because ive asked myself that same question before,my nephew plays poker at age 10 and hes pretty good at it.so i bought him a texas hold em kit for his birthday and i hope no one will judge me for this ,but i believe keeping certain things from our kids isnt always the best thing .i personally think it is just very important to teach your son the dangers of gambling. but it is fun to play poker so i dont think wrongly of you for teaching your son to play.we cant keep things from our kids in this day and age we have to teach them how to handle and filter things that exsist in this world good and bad (thats what i believe) i hope this helps!!!

Well, I can only give you an example. I learned on my father's knee while he played with his friends for matchsticks.

My son learned on my knee while I played for pennies. Now, at age 30, the town my successful son lives in and will help anybody with anything calls him "Our Prince".

sister's, beckie33, royalblush, cindy7186.

Thank you so much everyone, you are all so very kind.
Each of your replies have similar tone's which are........... Yes, it's a game for everyone, play and have fun but be wary of introducing him to the gambling side of poker.
I thought that some of you may have already been in this position, and you have , thank you for sharing your experience's, we can all learn so much from each other both at the table's and in our everyday live's.
Your loyal friend & fellow PC'er

Alan

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy ALW, I was playing penny anne poker with my parents and 5 other siblings and I feel it taught us alot. My brothers would be so upset when they would lose but my Dad had no mercy and now at older adults they know how to take loseing so I think it was a great family get together. Instead of running we sat a a table with our parents and cards and out of us all none have been to jail in our lifetime and I feel its due to playing cards with our parents instead of to much time on our hands to run the streets. just my opinion Very Happy Very Happy

Thank you char, I feel all warm round the edge's.
If my son had any problem's i.e. smoking, drinking alcohol, I think he'd be more likely to develop addiction's.
Thankfully, he never puts a foot wrong, whenever our team play, (Manchester United) the whole family, young and old, all have a quid on the correct score.
He has watched me play for hour's and I've explained a few of my action's to him, I then entered him into a 7 card stud Hi/Lo tourney on pokerstar's. I written down the hand's he should play, fold the rest. I then left him to it and to my surprise he lasted 2 hour's.
Thank's Everyone
Alan

Some of my best childhood memories are of my Grandmother who I lived with and her Dad my Great Grandpa (who was, and will always be about the most beloved, and most often remebered, and missed by everyone who knew him) I was very young between 4-6 and my Great Grandpa, and a few of my Uncles would come over to play poker at my Grandmas house at least about once a week. They always let me play, even gave me money to buy my chips. Then at the end of the night let me keep what I won or whatever amount I might have left. They even included me in passing the deal, and never made me feel like a little kid, (VERY rare when you are only 4-6) and I could never forget how great that felt.
The dealer got to pick the game and decide wether or not to include the jokers, and or select wilds. My Grandpa always made duces wild or one armed Jacks. Being as young as I was and wanting to make use of my cool newfound knowledge after asking "Grandpa what the heck is a duce?" and being shown the one armed jacks. When it was my deal I'd excitedly announce "with jokers, duces wild and one armed jacks!" LOL... thinking I was sure to increase my chances of winning. I learned how to play & deal all of the games they played, but almost always picked 7 card no peeky which was my favorite.

If kids are treated and taught in a way that is most likely to help them grow up feeling good about themselves, to love, & be loved, to respect, and appriciate things that they should. ect... I don't see what bad could come from it.

Thank you casino$teve,
I enjoyed reading your reply and your spot on. I think the warm family atmosphere during play was the key, your fondest memory was how easy going everyone was. Nobody was there to make any money, if they were then a child wouldn't have been dealing, an accidently overturned card can cause havoc.
Thank you very much
Alan

And I cannot even find the words to tell you how proud I feel and how privileged to know such wonderful people as all who posted above.

This is a very fine example of just one of the things that make Poker Crush so different from any other poker forum/portal.

We are truly one of a kind as a poker site and all of the same kind as human beings.

I believe this is exactly the kind of site Geno had in mind when he hired me. If not, I'm sure I will soon know. LOL

Sometimes we ALL write a post to one another with "that lovin' feelin' ".

Your Guru

Thank you all for your time, I knew you would help. Though I never thought you would all give so much appreciation to such a personal question,
You have called upon long ago memorie's of family get together's, special memorie's of a loved one's character and your own childhood memorie's to give me your opinion's, you've made me feel warm inside my soul

Alan
