Hello again, my champs and future champs!

In calling you champs, I am reminded of some scientific studies done that prove some amazing things. Among them: 1. Positive thinking REALLY DOES influence positive happenings! 2. Prayer REALLY DOES work! 3. Thinking in a negative way REALLY DOES attract bad things toward you like a magnet!

I would say that is enough reason to try to keep smiling and expecting things to get better! Remember, these were double blind studies that were repeated by different scientists and all the results came out the same! (See, I DO keep up to date with what is going on in the world of new knowledge! That is because I find it to be fascinating, being the lifetime scholar that I am.)

Remind me sometime to tell you about the latest studies on plants and nervous systems - theirs!

But now back to poker.

The second concept I wanted to make clear in this lesson is the relationship between a champion and a pro.

Turns out there is not much of a relationship at all. You can be a great, consistently winning champion without ever turning pro! Even to the point of getting wealthy, still without turning pro, whatever your personal reasons may be.

In turn there are a lot of pros who spend a lot of time broke and in debt up to their eyeballs! Usually those who rush the turning pro decision after a long streak of doing well, which leads them to overestimate their talent.

That is where I come in for you! I promise to always be bluntly and sometimes even cruelly honest about how I evaluate your talent and poker knowledge. I just lean on the old adage, "If I be cruel, it is in order to be kind." I believe it is the long run that counts most. There is nothing worse than seeing someone give up a good job and almost everything they have, only to face a major disappointment down the road!

Well, I take that back....there is one thing worse. That is the truly talented and knowledgeable person who lacks the courage to follow his/her dream.

I will do my very best to make sure you are on the right track individually to make sure you fall into the right category.

I had a favorite scholar right here at PC my first year here, who wasted and threw away a wonderful opportunity to become a real champion because his ego would not allow him to accept my constructive criticysm in trying to help him. Such a shame. But I would not have been helping him at all by being anything less than 100 percent honest with him. I have always regretted losing him. All because of that one little three-letter word - ego. There is just no place for it in poker.

And to beat all, my big criticysms always come to you (and to him) by private messages (PMs). I see no point in embarrassing anybody, so the majority of my time is spent in private PM tutoring to all of you.

If you happen to be one who doesn't get many suggestions from me by PM, then you know that I am following your progress and see nothing at all wrong with the way you are progressing! And I admit there aren't many that I don't see some way they could change their playing for the better.

Those who can't take it drop out, despising me, which breaks my heart. But the rest of you go on to become champions,,,,,,whether you ever turn pro or not!

There are an awful lot of rules and regulations and what I call BS paperwork to being a registered pro. So I can certainly understand why many champions never take that step. They become wealthy and stick to their own preferred lifestyle, playing only when they want to, and not having to follow any kind of schedule made up by a governing body. And never having to pay income tax if they truly do not believe it is fair.

So what is the advantage of being a registered pro? Good question. To be bluntly honest, the best reason is the sponsorship of companies whose products you are willing to endorse in exchange for their paying all your expenses. Also the opportunity to get jobs like the one I have right here. Also it makes your books sell better if you decide to write. And last but not least, there honestly is a matter of ego involved, I am almost ashamed to admit.

So now you know the difference between a pro and a champion! Except for the very best thing to know, which I have saved for last: THANK GOD, THERE ARE THOSE WHO ARE BOTH!!!

My next lesson will concentrate on tips and strategies for actual playing of the game.

Congratulations on having come this far without giving up! I know how tough it is in the beginning stages!

Good Thinking and my very best to you all!

Your Ever-lovin' Guru

hmmm....well...lets see....i havent been around lately....nothing to do with
not wanting to be....it is my online activity is limited and most definatly bingocrush seems to have my attention with the new games....anywho...like i was babble typing about....i read gurus post....and find that there was not a reply yet....im thinking everyone is awaiting a lesson....thank you guru for being you and explaining things the way you do....funny i understand at times then figure out whew what was i thinking... or hey maybe the lesson was pro or champion....i for sure am thinking good thinking poker player will do me just fine....hey maybe even profit winnnings hands thought thru well to win the pot.....then on go we to the tournaments wins are nearly prize enough....though real money wins are the best and the reason for most to play.....i enjoy the game and at the first part of your lesson....you mentioned the good positive thinking formula usually good happenings to happen and visaversa bad negative ....(sorry im not going to repeat it for all to even allow their brain to sense....) jk....anywho.....crazy as i am i do seem to go that extra note forward.....and confuse many with my ramblings.....not by purposely ...and it is the last think i like to do....confuse people that is....
so now that i lost why i ....oh yea now i think i remember....
did you happen to mention the formula of happenings....be cuz you would
like us to be aware that your being pro thoughts need not be taken personally as anything negative, just as maybe except some help with the good thinking skills you like to offer for us to use at our descretion....
hello poker CRUSHERS !!! Big hugs Guru!!!

Thank you again poker Guru for the very good lesson.I really know the positive thinking gets you alot further as I watch Dale with his tourneys and I can tell by his moods if he will make it to the final tables or not and this morning he woke up feeling good and winning a few sit and gos and took my winnings from yesterdays landshark and paid for a tourney and took 4th which was 20 dollars and some odd cents and was sooo proud but then took and paid for me a tourney me not in a positive mood and telling him that and I lost so I know that positive, negative feeling.Again thanks for the wonderful lessons.....
